I was always a fan of the iPhone (and still am I suppose) but I have to say, there was something about Android devices that really interested me. Apart from the freedom, flexibility and choice that Android devices offer, I really liked the fact that the screen size on most Android devices tends to be bigger than that of the iPhone. It’s funny that the trend has gone from having the biggest mobile device possible to the smallest and now back towards the biggest devices again. Where will it all end? But to be honest, when I bought my first Android smartphone I think I just wanted something different from the norm. Clearly I wasn’t alone. Over the last year or so my team have been inundated with requests from customers asking ‘When will Sage 50 Accounts be available on Google Play?’.
In June of this year I received a companywide email from Sage’s R&D department asking for volunteers to come forward to help out with the testing of the new Sage 50 Accounts app for the Android Market. Being a big fan of all things Android (I’m not a nerd at all – I swear), I replied to the mail and put my name on the list of volunteer testers.
Having being initially involved in testing and the release of the first ever Sage 50 Accounts app on the iPhone and Blackberry I was intrigued to see how it would look and feel on an Android phone. I’m glad to say I wasn’t disappointed. Configuration within Sage 50 Accounts is as simple as always. Initially I used the Demo data (which is in built) so that I could experience the functionality of the app without needing a live environment – this is also available on the iPhone apps but it’s very handy all the same. The look and feel is very similar to the iPhone and Blackberry versions so don’t worry, you won’t be left searching for menu’s and features if you suddenly decide to take the plunge and move to Android.
Like the iPhone version, the Sage 50 Accounts app is also compatible with Android tablet devices. Download your FREE Sage 50 Accounts app for Android.
