The 2012 Startup Awards in association with Vodafone Ireland will take place on Thursday, May 24th 2012 at the Burlington Hotel, Dublin and will celebrate the very best Irish startup businesses across all sectors of the economy. The Startup Awards 2012 in association with Vodafone – is Ireland’s first dedicated awards program to reward excellence in the Irish business startup community.
“Startup business represents a key part of the engine of growth that will lead the recovery and job creation in the Irish economy” said Stephen Dillon, founder of Startups.ie.
Dillon continued, “We set up Startups.ie in 2008 as a resource for entrepreneurs by entrepreneurs and The Startup Awards was the next logical step to showcase the very best in new business that our nation has to offer.”
Speaking at the launch of the awards in Dublin today, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD said:
“A key pillar of the government’s plan to get jobs and growth back into the economy is encouraging more businesses to start-up, more of them to succeed, and more of them to grow to scale. We must not only seek to attract the next Google and Microsoft to Ireland, but also to establish companies here which can be world-leaders in their fields, and the Action Plan for Jobs will implement changes to achieve this“.

Entry to the Startup Awards is open to all sole traders, partnerships and companies operating in the Republic of Ireland that have been in business for three years or less and have 30 employees or less on March 1st 2012.
The closing date for entries is Thursday March 27th 2012 and the winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Thursday May 24th at The Burlington Hotel, Dublin 4.
